“It’s like a horror movie”: a scary gingerbread man burglar scares the whole town

How would you react if you were having dinner with your family and suddenly a giant gingerbread man tried to break into your house?

A resident of the American city of Arlington can now answer this question. The case poses a mystery to the police. No one knows who is hiding under the scary Guetzli costume.

“My wife suddenly said: Hey, listen, there’s a man. “He didn’t ring the doorbell, he just stood there in this gingerbread man costume,” the resident told local news station WUSA9 of the gruesome encounter.

The family then watched in disbelief on the surveillance camera as the stranger tried in vain to push open the front door. Shortly afterwards, the burglar, disguised as a Guetzli creature, disappeared again into the night. The resident did not like all this and therefore called the police.

What does the gingerbread man want?

It wasn’t just the family who involuntarily became acquainted with the terrifying disguised man. An hour before the burglary attempt, another resident saw the gingerbread man. «Suddenly my dogs were barking. And when I looked out the window, there was a giant gingerbread man on the sidewalk,” Lindsey Churchill told WUSA9. ‘We looked into each other’s eyes and the gingerbread man walked on. So funny. It wasn’t funny.” She reported the incident to the police.

According to police, a witness allegedly spoke to the mysterious gingerbread villain shortly after the crime. The costumed man allegedly replied that he was looking for a friend’s house.

There has yet been no contact between the unknown man and the police. It is still unclear who he is and what exactly he wants to achieve with his strange behavior. There is still uncertainty in Arlington. “It’s like a horror movie. What was the purpose of all this action in this costume? Just to see if we’re home?
