A container ship was apparently attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The cargo ship is operated by the German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd. The shipping company confirmed this to Spiegel. The AP news service reported about it earlier.
According to a spokesperson for the shipping company, no injuries were reported in the incident. The ship “Al Jasrah” continued its journey. A crisis team is working on the situation.
The situation in the Red Sea has been deteriorating for several weeks. There have been repeated attacks on cargo ships by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels. They recently announced that they would attack ships linked to Israel.
According to tracking portal Marinetraffic, the ship is en route from the Greek port city of Piraeus to Singapore under the Liberian flag. According to the ship’s movement data, the “Al Jasrah” continued to move recently.
