Tesla must improve the autopilot function in two million cars Sensors in 300 toilets: Zurich Airport analyzes toilet visits – that’s what’s behind it

Tesla must update the software for the ‘Autopilot’ assistance system in approximately two million cars due to safety defects.

In a year-long investigation, the American car safety authority National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) determined that the car manufacturer’s driver assistance system was not good enough to prevent abuse. “Automated technology holds promise for improving safety, but only if it is used responsibly,” the agency said Wednesday.

The investigation continues as the agency assesses the effectiveness of Tesla’s solution. As Tesla noted in the recall report, the software update will be installed online starting December 12 or shortly thereafter. The recall is the second this year. Tesla is increasingly criticized after hundreds of accidents. Some of these accidents also resulted in fatalities. (sda/awp/dpa)
