Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is accused of involvement in the massacres of thousands of opposition figures. (archive image)

Raisi was expected to give a speech at the forum on Wednesday. However, three Iranian opposition figures living in Switzerland had called on the federal prosecutor’s office to arrest him. A call supported by more than 350 personalities in a separate statement. The call is also supported by five Swiss, including national councilor Philippe Nantermod (FDP/US).

“The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office immediately started several investigations,” it said in a statement on Tuesday. But the “named person” has “canceled his trip and is currently not in Switzerland.”

The Criminal Code only allows investigations into international crimes if the suspect can be identified on Swiss territory.
