The weather or technical problems are usually the cause of train delays.
In a suburb of Paris, train traffic was at a standstill on Thursday morning for a different reason: a woman had given birth on the S-Bahn. Her little girl clearly couldn’t wait to see the light of day. This is reported by Actu.
It all happened around 7:30 am in Meaux. To allow the deployment of rescue workers, train services between Meaux and Château-Thierry and between Meaux and La Ferté-Milon were temporarily interrupted.
“The mother went into labor when the train was almost at the end of the route,” said a representative of the transport company SNCF.
The fire and rescue service were quickly alerted and went to the train station in Meaux. There they were finally able to help the mother during the birth.
According to the spokesperson for the transport company, the delivery went surprisingly smoothly and quickly. Train traffic was able to resume faster than expected. The mother and baby, who were taken to Meaux hospital, are doing well, SNCF said.
It is now being announced on social media whether the baby can travel for free by train until his 18th birthday.
As the SNCF group reports, there is no official policy regarding birth gifts for children born on trains. It depends on the situation at hand.
The baby is not an isolated incident: at the beginning of this year, a woman gave birth to a little girl on a bus on line A. (dzc)
