The leadership in Kiev also expects massive attacks on the electricity grid every day.

Call to Action for Congress: Ukraine’s Defeat Looms

If the US parliament does not act, the government will no longer have money to purchase additional weapons and equipment for Ukraine or to supply equipment from its own military stockpiles to Kiev starting in the new year. This was written by the director of the US National Budget Office, Shalanda Young, in a letter to the leadership of both houses of Congress.

The White House released the letter on Monday. Young urged Congress to take action: “We are out of money – and running out of time.”

There is “no magic pot” from which money can be drawn, Young warned. If the flow of weapons and equipment from the US is cut off, it will bring Ukraine “to its knees on the battlefield.” This not only jeopardizes Kiev’s successes, but also increases the likelihood of Russian victories.

“If our aid is cut off, it will cause significant problems for Ukraine.” Even if international partners had increased their support, they could not offset US aid.

Young listed what had already been used of the funds approved so far. The Pentagon has already used up 97 percent of its approved funds for Ukraine. The money intended for the country’s economic aid has already been fully absorbed. “If Ukraine’s economy collapses, they will no longer be able to continue fighting,” she warned.

The US is Ukraine’s largest military backer and has already provided billions of dollars. The loss of this aid would be fatal, especially since Europe is not meeting its self-imposed munitions supply obligations to Ukraine, as Defense Minister Boris Pistorius recently had to admit.

Ukraine expects new massive Russian missile attacks on the electricity grid

Meanwhile, after a long pause, Kiev expects new massive Russian missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy supply. “If they have not started these attacks yet, they could start any day,” air force spokesman Yuri Ihnat said in an interview published Monday by RBK-Ukraina news agency. Russia’s defense industry has ramped up production of missiles and combat drones.

According to Ihnat, Moscow currently has about 870 missiles of various types. However, the Russian military no longer has the resources it had last year. In September of the previous year there were still 1,600 cruise missiles.

Ukraine reports more than twenty Russian drone attacks last night

According to its own statements, Ukraine was attacked on Monday evening by 23 Russian combat drones and one missile. Ukraine’s air force said 18 of the drones the Russians launched from Crimea’s annexed Black Sea peninsula were successfully repelled. The rocket was also shot down. Initially, nothing was known about possible casualties or damage. In total, air defenses were active at night in nine different regions of the country.

London: An estimated 70,000 Russians killed in Ukraine

The fighting on the ground also continues, despite the onset of winter and heavy losses. According to British estimates, around 70,000 Russians have been killed in Moscow’s war of aggression so far. The British Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that there were 50,000 regular soldiers and 20,000 members of Wagner’s private army. The number of injured between the start of the war on February 24, 2022 and the end of November 2023 is estimated in London at 180,000 to 240,000 soldiers and 40,000 Wagner fighters.

“This gives an estimated total number of casualties among Russian fighters of 290,000 to 350,000. The average estimate is a total of 320,000 Russian victims,” the report said. According to NATO estimates from the end of November, more than 300,000 Russian soldiers have now been killed or wounded.

Russian authorities confirm the death of a general in Ukraine

Among them are also many high-ranking officers. Russian authorities have now officially confirmed the death of another Russian army general in Ukraine. “The deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps of the Northern Fleet, Major General Vladimir Zavadsky, died during combat operations in the field of military special operations,” the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, said on his Telegram channel on Monday. Ukrainian media reported his death last week.
