Raz (4) and Aviv (2) Asher are allowed to go home after more than a month of captivity.

49 days after their kidnapping, the nightmare ends for 13 Israeli hostages. After being kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 and witnessing the Hamas massacres in the settlement, they were allowed to return home on Friday. The Israeli army (IDF) confirmed this on Friday evening. The hostages included nine women and four children. More are expected to be released in the coming days.

They are part of the hostage deal that Israel made with Hamas. In exchange for the total of 50 hostages, Israel agreed to release 150 Palestinians and enforce a four-day ceasefire. On Friday, 39 Palestinians were allowed to leave prisons, including only women and minors.

Aviv Asher (2), Raz Asher (4) and Doran Katz Asher (34)

A mother and her two daughters returned to Israel on Friday. They are German citizens. The family was in the kibbutz on October 7, hiding in a bunker. The little girl’s grandmother (†69) was killed. The father of the two children was able to watch on his smartphone as his children and his wife were taken to Gaza. Now the family is reunited.

Jaffa Adar (85)

The images of Yaffa Adar in a golf cart went around the world. Her granddaughter appeared in the media calling for the 85-year-old’s release. “This is my grandmother, she was captured and taken to Gaza,” she wrote on Twitter. Now the great-grandmother has been reunited with her extended family.

Hanna Katzir (77)

The elderly woman Hanna Katzir is also among the thirteen released hostages, her family confirmed. She was pronounced dead two days ago. “We announce the death of settler Hannah Katzir, whom we previously agreed to release on humanitarian grounds,” Islamic Jihad reported. And further: “But the enemy’s hesitation cost her her life.” That now turns out to be a lie. Katzir arrived safely in Israel.

Danielle Aloni (44), Emilia Aloni (5)

Danielle Aloni and her daughter Emilia were released by Hamas. Aloni was one of the women who called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (74) to agree to a ceasefire in a Hamas propaganda video. It was not clear whether the women were forced to make these statements by terrorists. Now she has been recognized as one of the thirteen freed hostages. Her sister and her three-year-old twins are still being held by Hamas.

Ohad Munder-Zichri (9), Keren Munder (54) and Ruthi Munder (78)

Little Ohad celebrated his ninth birthday at the end of October while being held hostage. His uncle was killed in the Hamas attack. Ohad was kidnapped from his home along with his mother and grandmother. His grandfather remains in captivity.

Margalit Mozes (77)

The elderly woman Margalit Mozes was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nor Oz. According to relatives, the elderly woman has health problems and needs urgent medical attention. The woman is German-Israeli.

Adina Moshe (72)

Adina Moshe’s family recognized her from a Hamas video clip in which she was seen riding a motorcycle between two terrorists. She recently had heart surgery and has to take medication. She and her husband lived near the Gaza border – there were always tensions. Her granddaughter said of her grandfather in an interview with ABC News: “She always told us that when the terrorists came to her house, she would make coffee and put good food on the table.” But things turned out differently. On October 7, Adina Moshe and her husband Anat Moshe (†75) waited in the bunker. Hamas killed the Iraqi husband and kidnapped Adina. Now Adina Moshe is back with her family.

Hanna Peri (79)

Israeli Hanna Peri (79) and her son Nadav Popplewell (51) were also abducted to Gaza. Hamas sent photos of Peri’s daughter in which she recognized her relatives in captivity. She saw armed men in the background. The woman was now allowed to return home. Her son remains in captivity.
