A thwarted shoplifter escaped from a shoe store in Northeim, Lower Saxony, leaving her five-year-old son behind. An employee saw the young woman putting shoes worth 45 euros into her handbag, police said Thursday. He then took the shoes out of his handbag again. The woman then fled – without her son.
The police were called, made a report and informed youth care. Then an acquaintance of the mother appeared on the scene, it was said. This informed the woman, whereupon she returned. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 19-year-old for shoplifting. (AFP)
