A car exploded at the US-Canada border. According to the American news portal CBS, two people in the car were killed.

The incident happened at the border crossing between the US state of New York and the Canadian province of Ontario near the famous Niagara Falls, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul said on Wednesday via the short messaging service X, formerly Twitter.

State police are working with the FBI’s terrorism unit to monitor all entry points into New York, Hochul said.

The FBI in Buffalo and the Border Transportation Authority also confirmed the incident. The FBI in Buffalo said the incident is under investigation. Photos showed debris and a heavy police presence at the border crossing. There were initially no further details about the incident. (sda/dpa)
