Conspiracy ideologue Attila Hildmann, wanted for incitement to hatred, does not have Turkish citizenship, according to information from the magazine “Stern”, contrary to previous information. “The investigation is still ongoing and according to local knowledge, the accused has only German nationality,” the magazine quoted a spokesman for the Berlin Attorney General’s Office as saying in a report on Tuesday.

A year ago, the prosecutor’s office stated that Hildmann, who had fled to Turkey, had Turkish nationality in addition to German nationality. Therefore, it can be assumed that Turkey will not arrest or extradite him. By contrast, without Turkish citizenship, extradition could now take place.

On the run since December 2020

Former vegan chef Hildmann, who was wanted by an international arrest warrant, appeared as a conspiracy ideologue during the corona crisis. According to “Stern”, the spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service does not want to comment on how the disinformation could have come about.
