The situation in Gaza’s hospitals continues to deteriorate. Everything is missing: electricity, water, oxygen. Israel blames Hamas for the dramatic situation. One accusation is that patients and those seeking protection are being used as “human shields.” The terrorist organization is hiding fighters, equipment and command centers beneath its buildings, another said.

The Israeli army supported his theory about hospital abuse during a video-recorded press conference on Monday evening. Army spokesman Daniel Hagari, 47, said evidence was found at the Al-Rantisi children’s clinic that Hamas used hospitals for its “terror machine.”

Soldiers are said to have found “suicide vests, grenades, assault rifles, explosives, rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons, as well as computers, money and so on” in the basement of the hospital. And further: “We also found signs that Hamas was holding hostages here.” Information from intelligence services would confirm this. The entrance to a tunnel apparently leading to the extensive network of tunnels built by Hamas under the Gaza Strip is also believed to have been discovered.

Hagari also published a video on X on Monday evening showing him in the basement of Rantisi Hospital. In the video, Hagari points to a piece of paper on the wall, which must be a kind of timetable stating exactly when which terrorist had to receive the hostages. The authenticity of the scheme has not been independently verified.

Fighting in Al-Quds Hospital

The two largest hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Al-Shifa Hospital and Al-Quds Clinic, are closed. According to Israel, Hamas’s command center is located directly beneath Al-Shifa Hospital. There will be multiple entrances to the tunnel system, as well as meeting, living and storage areas.

A former employee of the Israeli secret service writes in the New York Times that hundreds of people may be hiding under the hospital building. Israeli media reported that hostages could also be there. However, this has not been confirmed. Hamas and hospital officials deny this.

Fighting broke out at Al-Quds Hospital on Monday, killing 21 terrorists. Hamas fighters reportedly shot at the soldiers from the hospital entrance with two rocket-propelled grenades and smaller weapons. The fighters with the rocket-propelled grenades are said to have hid in the hospital again after the ambush.
