Controversial British Home Secretary Suella Braverman dismissed from office US military plane crashes into the Mediterranean during training – five dead

According to British media, the controversial British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been fired. The BBC and Sky News, among others, reported this on Monday, citing government sources.

The right-wing politician in Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s cabinet has repeatedly caused controversy recently. She accused the police, among other things, of being blind in the left eye and of tolerating law violations by pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Tensions continued to rise

Following riots by right-wing extremists, Rishi Sunak condemned the violence he had seen on both sides. This is “completely unacceptable” and disrespectful to the commemoration of the war dead, which will be celebrated on November 11, Sunak said in a statement on Saturday evening.

On the sidelines of a large pro-Palestinian demonstration in London on Remembrance Day on Saturday, numerous right-wing extremists tried to reach the Cenotaph war memorial in the government district. According to their own statements, they wanted to protect them from the participants of the protest march. As the London police announced in contradiction to Sunak, they could not reach the monument. The right-wing extremists then fought further battles with officials in the city center. More than 90 people were arrested and nine police officers were injured. On Sunday, the police arrested seven suspects.

At the same time, about 300,000 people took part in the pro-Palestinian protest march, according to police. The organizers spoke of 800,000 participants. According to the information, everything remained largely peaceful. According to reports, there were also anti-Semitic slogans and posters. After the meeting ended, some participants were arrested for setting off fireworks and wearing masks. Interior Minister Suella Braverman condemned the fact that during the protest “morbid, inflammatory and sometimes clearly criminal chants, posters and objects (…) were openly displayed.”

The opposition blamed Braverman for the far-right riots. The right-wing politician encouraged the criminals by previously condemning the large demonstration as a ‘hate march’. emphasized Labor party leader Keir Starmer and London mayor Sadiq Khan. They called on Braverman to resign. (saw/sda/dpa)
