Volcano alert in Italy: Etna in Sicily spews lava

class=”sc-29f61514-0 dXbCZE”>

Mount Etna in Sicily is spewing lava again.

The largest active volcano in Europe is spewing lava again: the more than 3,300 meter high Etna on the Italian island of Sicily is once again making headlines. Saturday evening he spewed out a large amount of lava.

From a distance you could see the glowing debris being thrown upwards into the darkness and then slowly flowing down the mountain. The volcano was mainly active in the southeastern crater.

The warning level has been increased

The Italian Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has raised the alert level from yellow to orange. However, initially there were no reports of damage. There was also no major ash fall.

Operations at Catania’s island airport therefore continued as usual. Mount Etna is the largest active volcano in Europe. The mountain is about 3350 meters high. However, the exact height changes time and time again due to eruptions and cinder cones. (SDA)
