“Blood on Your Hands”: Pro-Palestine Protest at the New York Times Building

Students block the entrance to the New York Times.

As the American newspaper reported on Thursday (local time), a protest march with thousands of participants headed towards Times Square in Manhattan. Some people stopped in front of the skyscraper where the newspaper is headquartered. It was said that dozens of people had forced their way into the entrance hall.

The New York Daily News reported that according to eyewitnesses, about 30 people chanted slogans in the lobby of the New York Times. Protesters covered their faces inside the building with Palestinian clothing.

The security staff let them do their thing for a while and there was initially no information about any arrests. The demonstrators painted a cafe in the same building with the words “Blood on your hands,” “Liberate Gaza” and “Free Palestine.” It was said that the rear window of a police car parked in front of the high-rise was smashed.

The protest was against reporting by the New York Times, the report said. The demonstrators therefore accused the newspaper of a “pro-Israel tendency”.

The New York Times rejected criticism of its reporting on the war between Israel and Hamas. She reported “in detail and with fairness, impartiality and a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of the conflict,” according to a statement made available to the New York Daily News.

“We fully support this group’s right to express their views, even if we disagree with their description of our reporting.”
