After the attack by Hamas terrorists on Israel, the US marched to the borders with a large contingent. The Pentagon moved fighter jets, the world’s largest warship and now a nuclear-capable submarine into the Suez Canal. The goal: to intimidate Iran and its allies and send a clear signal that the United States stands with Israel.

Blick shows which weapons and vehicles the US military is now using to intimidate Hamas.

Ohio Sub

On Sunday, the US surprised with a rare announcement. The Pentagon announced that it had decided to move an Ohio-class nuclear submarine to the Middle East. This has already arrived “in the relevant area of responsibility”. Authorities posted a photo that appears to show the submarine in the Suez Canal near Cairo.

Authorities have not said which submarine was moved off the Israeli coast. According to CNN, the US Navy has only four such boats. Some of these date back to the Cold War era and are usually equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

According to Pentagon data, each Ohio submarine can carry about 150 cruise missiles. Each missile can be equipped with a 500-kilogram nuclear warhead.

It’s rare for the U.S. Navy to announce where Ohio’s submarines are based. Normally these work in complete secrecy. The fact that the location of the submarine is now being revealed should be interpreted as a warning.

By the way, the Ohio-class submarines have only been used in combat once – at least according to publicly available records. In March 2011, the USS Florida fired approximately 100 Tomahawk missiles at targets in Libya.

Largest aircraft carrier in the world

After Hamas attacked Israel, the US military deployed numerous aircraft carriers to the Middle East. Including the largest warship in the world, the USS Gerald R. Ford.

The Gerald R. Ford is a nuclear-powered ship that serves as an aircraft carrier. The ship is 333 meters long, making it one of the largest ships in the world. The hull is 41 meters wide. The Gerald R. Ford was completed in 2017 at a cost of $13 billion.

The airline has 90 fighter planes and helicopters and also has a number of defense systems and munitions that the Israeli military can use in times of supply shortages, such as precision bombs and anti-aircraft missiles.

In addition to the USS Gerald R. Ford, the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower was also moved to the coast of Israel. The ship is approximately 333 meters long and approximately 41 meters wide. It can carry up to 85 aircraft.

Long-range bomber B-52

In addition to aircraft carriers and submarines, the US is also flexing its muscles in the air. Just a few days ago, two B-52 bombers flew through Israeli airspace – a clear sign of deterrence for the enemy.

The B-52 is the longest surviving aircraft in the United States Air Force. It has been in service since 1955. With a wingspan of 56 meters and eight engines, the B-52 is one of the large military aircraft. Although it was considered obsolete after just a few years, it is still in use. On the one hand it can carry extremely large loads, on the other hand it is one of the few aircraft that can be refueled in mid-air. Their reach is virtually unlimited.

The B-52 is one of the most famous military aircraft and has also appeared in films and literature. What role it might play in the Israel conflict is unclear. Experts assume that the flight over Israel was more of a demonstration of power.
