Witness in court: Donald Trump Jr.

Several of his children have now been called to the witness stand in the fraud trial against former American President Donald Trump (77) in New York. First, Donald Jr. (45) and Eric (39) were questioned in court in Manhattan on Wednesday and Thursday. An investigation into daughter Ivanka (42) and Donald Trump himself was also planned for next week.

According to consistent media reports, Donald Trump Jr. said he did “anything and everything” for the Trump Organization, but was not concerned about billing. “I leave that to my accountants.”

Eric Trump also testified Wednesday that he never looked at communications about the Trump Organization’s financial situation. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen or worked on a financial statement. I don’t think I would have known. I was not responsible for that.”

Trump is using the trial as advertising

The fraud trial concerns allegations by the Public Prosecution Service that the ex-president, his sons and associates manipulated the value of the Trump Organization for years to obtain cheaper loans and insurance contracts. Republican Trump is not threatened with a prison sentence or a direct impact on his presidential candidacy, but a conviction could cause him major business damage.

Due to numerous verbal blunders by Donald Trump, who was personally present at the trial several times, Judge Arthur Engoron (74) has already threatened the ex-president with serious consequences and imposed a fine.

The former president wants to be re-elected next year. He is the most promising candidate for the Republican nomination. According to many observers, he is using the trial as election advertising. (SDA)
