According to reports in the American media, 54-year-old actor Matthew Perry has been found dead.
As several media outlets, including TMZ and the Los Angeles Times, report, the ‘Friends’ star is said to have died in a drowning accident. As the “LAT” writes, Perry was found dead in his hot tub.
Authorities were called to his home around 4:00 PM (local time), where he was found unresponsive. The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing, did not provide a cause of death. However, according to the “LAT”, there are currently no signs of third-party influence.
Perry became famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit series ‘Friends’.
As it later became known, the actor had struggled with his success: In his 2022 biography “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry reported on his lifelong struggle with addiction to alcohol and opioids. His addiction led to several admissions to rehab, as well as a number of serious health problems. In 2018, he had to spend five months in hospital after suffering a ruptured intestine. (lacquer)
