18 people are dead, only a few of them have been identified. Shot in cold blood by Robert Card (40). The former army reservist was still at large on Thursday evening and a major manhunt is underway. This is what is known so far about the shooting victims.
According to his daughter-in-law Cassandra, Bob V. was killed in a shooting at the bowling center in the city of Lewiston on Wednesday evening (local time). Bob V., born and raised in Lewiston, married his wife Lucy there almost 50 years ago. Together they had three sons and six grandchildren.
V. was an enthusiastic bowler. He played regularly with his wife in the local bowling league. He also founded a youth league and spent his time teaching children about his favorite sport. “He died doing what he loved,” his daughter-in-law told the Portland Press Herald on Thursday. “He wouldn’t let you walk out the door without giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek,” she recalls. Bob loved his wife and grandchildren dearly. According to the Press Herald, Bob wanted to protect children from the shooter. His wife Lucy was injured on Wednesday evening. V. was considered “one of the kindest souls in the Lewiston bowling community,” the report said.
The second confirmed victim is Tricia A., who worked part-time at the bowling center. Her brother, DJ Johnson, confirmed her death to ABC News. A. was the only woman to die at the bowling alley. She was playing when the gunman walked in and opened fire.
Her brother described her to CNN as the “rock of the family.” She always ‘kept everyone on balance’. “Whenever there was an argument, she was the one who calmed everyone down,” he added. “If someone was having a bad day, she would immediately call to talk about it.”
According to her brother, Tricia tried to call 911 before she was shot. She leaves behind a son.
Her sister was also at the bowling center at the time of the crime. She was able to escape.
Family members confirmed to the media that the third victim was Joseph W., who worked as a bar manager at the Schemengees Bar and Grill restaurant. Leroy W.*, told NBC that he was told his son had died. One of his employees praised Joseph as a “great boss” who was “generous and fatherly.” “Tough ass on the outside, but a teddy bear on the inside,” she added. “You don’t deserve that.”
Bill B. was confirmed by his father William B.* as one of the victims. Steven V. was confirmed to ABC News by his brother Nick V.* as one of the victims.
B’s father told ABC News that Bill B. was part of a gathering of deaf people who were at the Schemenges Bar and Grill at the time of the shooting. V. was also part of this group.
