The international Instagram account of the ‘Fridays For Future’ movement is currently causing a stir. In one article, Israel is accused of “genocide against the Palestinian people.”

The climate protection movement ‘Fridays for Future’ (FFF) has published a message on its international Instagram profile sharply attacking Israel. She accuses the country of ‘genocide’ against the Palestinians. The message caused a wave of outrage. The German FFF section immediately distanced itself from the content.

The post, which consists of several text panels, says Israel has set up an “apartheid” system and stolen Palestinian land. There are no two sides to this question: “One is the oppressor, the other is the oppressed,” they write. Ultimately, they draw the conclusion: “This is not a conflict. This is a genocide.”

No unity between national departments

But the Western media are also busy trimming their fat: they allegedly deny people the ‘true’ history of the region and engage in brainwashing. The media would equate all Palestinians with terrorists and lack independence.

However, there is no unity between the national parts of the movement. Only shortly after the article appeared did the German section distance itself from the content. “No, the international account – as previously emphasized – does not speak for us,” the movement writes on the short message service X, formerly Twitter.

The Swiss ‘climate strike’ condemns anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim racism

The Swiss climate movement ‘Climate Strike’ places particular emphasis on the protection of the civilian population in the conflict in the Middle East. In a statement published on “The civilian population is the victim of this conflict. The Palestinian and Israeli people have the right to live in freedom, self-determination and peace.” The movement condemns rising anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim racism.

For Switzerland, the statement mentioned on X, formerly Twitter, is the only one legitimized by the movement and applicable to Switzerland.

As Climate Strike Switzerland, the movement explicitly opposes any violent conflict, because the climate crisis would increase armed conflicts, such as conflicts over resources. We want to prevent this by fighting for climate justice.
