Plans for German participation in this are still in flux, Berlin government circles said on Wednesday. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) has been ‘committed’ to the issue for a long time.

The aim of the meetings is to “relaunch dialogue”, said the spokesman for EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell. However, there was no direct conversation between Vucic and Kurti. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo’s independence in 2008 and still considers the state a southern Serbian province. The unresolved conflict repeatedly leads to violent clashes. Kosovo has approximately 1.8 million inhabitants, of which 120,000 are Serbs.
