The world must not forget what happened in Israel on October 7. Footage from security, body and dashboard cameras on vehicles shows the brutality with which Hamas operated.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) showed a 43-minute compilation of the footage collected on Monday. ‘Journalists who can tolerate the cruel truth’ were invited to view the raw material at an army base. Making your own videos was prohibited. The reporters are now writing down what was seen in the disturbing recordings.
In the fragment from a surveillance camera you see a father and his two sons running into a bunker, writes the journalist from “Telegraph”. A few meters away, a Hamas fighter threw a hand grenade in their direction. The two boys come out of the darkness screaming. “Daddy is dead,” the eldest, probably twelve years old, says to his brother.
The next fragment shows the terrorist who dropped the hand grenade on the children in the kitchen. He takes a coke from the refrigerator. “I want to go to my mother,” says the boy. Nothing further is known about the fate of the child.
Another clip consists of footage from a Hamas fighter’s dashcam and body cameras. Several armed terrorists line the main street. A silver car drives by slowly and one of the Hamas fighters signals the driver to stop. Then the fire is opened and the window breaks. The car continues to move quickly until it comes to an abrupt stop – the two occupants are dead.
Although the IDF decided not to publish the full material, parts of it were made public.
“Dad, I killed ten people with my bare hands,” a Hamas terrorist reportedly said in an intercepted telephone conversation. His parents ask him to return to Gaza in good health.
Further footage shows cheering terrorists trampling corpses and babies, the elderly and entire families being wiped out.
Major General Mickey Edelstein told the Times of Israel that there was evidence of rape. “We can’t publish them,” he says.
“We discussed for a long time whether we should show the material,” said IDF spokesman Daniel Haggari. Ultimately, it was decided to make the recordings available to some of the media, so that the bloody acts would not be forgotten. Out of respect for the relatives, the film will not be released. Not all 150 journalists and reporters could bear to watch all the images. Some burst into tears and left the room early. (jwg)
