A man fell overboard during a cruise on the Aida Perla. A major search is underway.

Fright during the holidays: On Sunday morning a man fell overboard during a cruise on the Aida Perla. “Man overboard!” came an announcement as the ship made its way along the English Channel between Britain and France. “Aida Cruises confirms that there is reason to believe that a crew member of Aida Perla fell overboard in the Strait of England in the early morning of October 22,” a spokeswoman confirmed to RTL.

The captain does not hesitate and turns the 300 meter long ship. “The ship was immediately stopped and returned to the location where the incident is believed to have occurred to participate in the search,” the spokeswoman explained. But: “The search for the missing person continues.” Aida Perla is in close contact with the authorities.

The water temperature in the English Channel is currently 14 degrees. It becomes less likely by the minute that the man will be found alive. The Aida Perla was en route from Hamburg to the Dominican Republic. (jwg)
