At least 14 soldiers killed in suicide bombing in Somalia No deal before summit – EU and US fail to resolve trade dispute

At least fourteen soldiers have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack on a military base near the Somali capital Mogadishu. Two civilians living in the area around the base were also killed, police said Saturday.

The attacker entered the area in a bulletproof vehicle. The Islamist terrorist group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. On her radio station she talked about about fifty fallen soldiers.

Al-Shabaab has had a firm grip on parts of the East African country for years. The militia still controls large areas, especially in the south. However, al-Shabaab has been under increasing pressure for months after the army launched an offensive against the terrorists.

About two weeks ago, at least 35 people were killed in heavy fighting between the Islamist terrorist group and paramilitary regional forces.
