The Palace of Versailles was evacuated again on Saturday due to a bomb threat. Once security checks are completed, the tourist attraction near Paris announced on Saturday afternoon that it would reopen. It is the sixth closure of the castle within seven days due to a threat. Although a suspect has already been arrested, the threats continue.
Hundreds of schools in France and regional airports have also been hit by bomb threats in recent days. Authorities say young people are behind many of the threats.
Bomb threats have increased since a young Islamist’s deadly attack on a teacher in Arras a week ago, which seriously shocked France. The country’s highest terror alert level was subsequently imposed. (sda/dpa)
