Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (46) has divorced her self-declared unfaithful partner and father of her daughter, television journalist Andrea Giambruno (42). “My relationship with Andrea Giambruno, which lasted almost ten years, has come to an end,” Meloni wrote in a statement published on online networks. “Our paths have been parted for some time and now is the time to take action.”
The message is accompanied by a photo showing Meloni with Giambruno and their seven-year-old daughter Ginevra. “I thank him for the wonderful years we spent together, for the difficulties we overcame and for the fact that he gave me the most important thing in my life: our daughter Ginevra,” the head of government writes about her ex.
Recently, statements made by the journalist on the sidelines of his program on the Rete4 channel became public and were recorded without his knowledge. In it, the 42-year-old says that he is still in a relationship. A satirical program on Canale 5 broadcast these statements on Thursday evening. Like Rete4, Canale 5 belongs to the media group Mediaset, which belongs to the family of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (†86).
In the recording, Giambruno says to a colleague: “What’s your name? do we know each other? Where have I seen you before? Was I drunk?” Then the moderator adds: “Do you know that (name hidden) and I have a relationship? All of Mediaset knows it and now you know it too. But we are looking for a third party. Would you like to participate? our working group, how would you like that?”
The case is extremely embarrassing for Meloni. Ultimately, the ultra-right politician, who has now been in power for a year, portrayed herself as a ‘Christian mother’ during the election campaign.
Her former partner has repeatedly made headlines. In September he spoke about “Alpaufzug” regarding migrants, and later apologized. Regarding rape, he is known to give women the following advice: “If you avoid getting drunk or losing consciousness, you also avoid having to deal with certain problems.”
Giambruno responded harshly this summer to a statement by German Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) on the online service X about the heat during his holiday in Italy and the dangers of climate change. Lauterbach’s comment: “If things continue like this, these holiday destinations will have no long-term future.” Meloni’s then-partner noted that if he didn’t like it, he should stay home. (AFP/no)
