A shop window in a Warsaw department store: there are three mannequins, everything looks completely normal. Or not? The ‘doll’ on the far right is a little too real: it’s a 22-year-old man who snuck in just before the mall closed.

And so he stands there, bag in hand, completely still – and for now the plan works. No one notices, the store closes, the staff goes home. When the lights go out in the department store, the doll comes to life and the thief sneaks out of the store.

His goal: jewelry! He went looking for jewelry – and entered a few shops. That was a mistake: now the security staff noticed him and were able to stop him. She called the police, who arrested the 22-year-old man.

Has already committed several burglaries

After his arrest it became clear: this was not the first coup that the young thug had committed. He has already struck at least twice in major stores and department stores.

In a second incident, he also broke into a shopping center and ate at a restaurant. Finally, he slipped under the shutters into a clothing store and changed clothes. A surveillance camera filmed him.

In a third incident at a shopping center, he stole money from cash registers and attempted to steal items. The 22-year-old has now been in pre-trial detention for three months. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison. (neo)
