He wanted to support Palestine: man arrested in Vaduz after anonymous bomb threat

class=”sc-29f61514-0 icZBHN”>

A man threatened to detonate an explosive in “Vaduz City” on Friday.

State police received a bomb threat via an anonymous phone call Friday evening at 9:12 p.m. A man explained in English that an explosive would go off in “City Vaduz” in about 30 minutes. He wanted to support Palestine and ended the call with “Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar”. Due to this threat, the state police immediately cordoned off a large part of the city in Vaduz.

State Police investigators began the investigation that night and continued through the weekend. During the intensive investigation, involving Interpol Vaduz, the state police managed to identify the alleged caller on Monday afternoon.

Because by Monday evening there were increasing indications that the suspect might still be in Liechtenstein, searches were immediately started, which were successful before midnight.

The state police have been able to arrest a man (39) who is under strong suspicion in connection with the bomb threat. At the request of the FL Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Princely Regional Court ordered the man’s arrest. The motive for the bomb threat is the subject of an ongoing investigation. The suspect is a Lithuanian citizen. The terrorist organization Hamas called for violence on Friday. (jwg)
