Zelenskyj: We must fight terror worldwide – the nightly update on the war in Ukraine After meeting with Baerbock: Shani Louk’s family calls for more action from the federal government

Zelenskyj: The fight against terrorism must not “wave”

In the face of mounting international crises, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for further support for his country, which has been attacked by Russia. “As terror spreads around the world, it is important that the world sends a clear signal that the fight against terror is not faltering anywhere,” Zelenskyj said in his evening video address on Saturday. He thanked several Western partners who announced military aid last week – including Belgium, which pledged F-16 fighter jets.

Following the attacks on Israel by the Islamist organization Hamas, concerns have been growing recently in Kiev that international support for the Ukrainian army could weaken. Zelensky warned last week during a visit to Brussels that Russia would take advantage of this to gather new strength in its war of aggression, which has been going on for almost 20 months.

London: Russian Black Sea Fleet on the defensive

According to British findings, the Russian Black Sea Fleet is now mainly dependent on defense after heavy blows. “It has moved many of its prestigious components – including cruise missile-capable ships and submarines – from Sevastopol to operational and base areas further east, such as Novorossiysk,” the UK Ministry of Defense said.

Sevastopol on the Russian-annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea is actually the port of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Recently, the headquarters was hit by Ukrainian missiles, and Russian warships in Sevastopol have also been repeatedly attacked.

“Don’t forget Ukraine”

The leader of Germany’s Green Party, Omid Nouripour, also warned that support for Ukraine should not be forgotten in light of the Hamas attack on Israel. “There is a lot of concern in Ukraine that their fate is now coming under control,” Nouripour said at the Baden-Württemberg Greens party conference in Weingarten (Ravensburg district). This should not be allowed. “Supporting Israel is an obligation – not to mention supporting Ukraine.”

That will be important on Sunday

The fighting at the front in Ukraine continues. The city of Avdiivka in the eastern Donetsk region in particular remains under Russian fire. On Saturday, Ukrainian authorities again reported violent attacks and attempts to encircle the Russians. (sda/dpa)
