“She knows exactly what is happening”: Granddaughter recognizes her grandmother, who was kidnapped by Hamas

The radical Islamic group Hamas launched a major attack on Israel on Saturday. Thousands of people were killed and hundreds were taken hostage. Hamas releases videos and photos of Israeli hostages. The images shock the world. A video shows an old woman surrounded by armed terrorists. The terrorists drive them through the Gaza Strip.

The woman’s granddaughter immediately recognized her. “This is my grandmother, she was captured and taken to Gaza,” writes Adva Adar on platform X. “Her name is Yaffa Adar and she is 85!”

Adva Adar received the last message from her grandmother at 9am on Saturday. It said Palestinian terrorists were in the streets of the kibbutz (collective rural settlements in Israel, editor’s note) open fire. Afterwards, Adar’s grandmother seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth – until Hamas releases a video of the kidnapped woman. The family is stunned.

“I want everyone to have the image of my grandmother in their heads”

Concerned, the granddaughter searched for more information about her grandmother. “She knows exactly what’s happening. I love her and want everyone to have the image of my grandmother in their minds,” the granddaughter’s post read. “My grandmother is apparently thrown somewhere, in severe pain, without medicine, without food and without water, dying of fear, alone. No one talks to us, no one can tell us anything,” Adva Adar continues.

Hostages are being held in the Gaza Strip

The 85-year-old is not the only hostage kidnapped. Hamas has kidnapped hundreds of Israelis, including children. Many relatives recognize their relatives in the videos that Hamas publishes.

Meanwhile, Israel has launched a counterattack. According to Al Jazeera, the Israeli army announced that the shelling of the Gaza Strip would continue even if there were hostages there. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (73) released a video on Monday evening showing rockets hitting buildings in the crisis area. He writes: “This is just the beginning.”

Hamas threatened after the Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip: “Any attack on innocent civilians without warning will be met with regret by the execution of one of the prisoners in our custody,” said Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Al-Quassam Brigade. (jwg)
