Ski holidays in Austria will become noticeably more expensive again in the coming winter season. Prices for lift tickets are rising sharply – on average between seven and ten percent, reports APA news agency.
The price increase is strongest in the Arlberg in Tyrol. The day ticket costs 75 euros (approx. 72 francs), twelve percent more than last season. Last year, cable car prices had already increased by an average of eight percent.
Cable car industry representatives cited general inflation and increased energy prices and interest rates as major reasons for the higher ticket prices.
Salzburg industry representative Erich Egger also pointed out that collective wages for cable car workers had been increased by more than ten percent.
In a number of large ski areas in the states of Tyrol and Salzburg, six-day tickets for adults become more than ten percent more expensive in the high season. In Ischgl you now have to pay 323 euros, in the Zillertal 349 euros, in Saalbach-Hinterglemm 377 euros and in the Arlberg 401 euros. If you book online in advance you can get significant discounts in some places.
