France, May 17, 2003: On the highway north of Lyon, a double-decker from Germany breaks the guardrail in a bend and falls down an embankment. 28 holidaymakers die.
Turkiye, June 7, 2003: A Turkish bus crashes into a tunnel portal near Erzincan. 27 people are dead, 7 injured. Authorities suspect the driver fell asleep.
Germany, June 18, 2007: A coach carrying 48 seniors tips over the embankment on the A14 between Magdeburg and Dresden after a truck collides with it at the end of a traffic jam. 13 people die.
France, July 22, 2007: On a steep mountain road in the French Alps in Val d’Isère, a carriage with Polish pilgrims on board crashes into a ravine and catches fire. 27 prisoners die.
Germany, November 4, 2008: A bus carrying 39 pensioners catches fire near Hannover. 20 people die. The cause of the fire was a short circuit in the wiring harness that supplied the galley with power.
Germany, September 26, 2010: A Polish car crashes into a bridge pillar on the A10 in Brandenburg. A driver lost control of her vehicle in the driveway and collided with the car. 14 people die.
Ukraine, October 12, 2010: A train collides with a bus at a level crossing near Marganets. 45 people die.
Turkiye, December 21, 2011: A heavy transport truck loaded with rocks collides with a coach near the city of Salat. 25 people die.
Switzerland, March 13, 2012: A Belgian coach crashes into a tunnel wall during an emergency stop near Sierre USA. A total of 28 people were killed: 22 children from Belgium and the Netherlands, their teachers and the two bus drivers.
France, October 23, 2015: A bus collides head-on with a timber truck parked across the road near Puisseguin. Both vehicles caught fire. Many prisoners are no longer able to free themselves in time; 43 people die.
Portugal, April 17, 2019: A tourist bus carrying 57 passengers falls from an embankment on the island of Madeira and crashes into a house. At least 29 German holidaymakers die.
Italy, October 3, 2023: For reasons that are still unclear, a bus falls from the Vempa viaduct in Mestre near Venice. After the collision, the bus catches fire. At least 21 people are killed and 15 others are injured. Two children were also among the dead.
