According to internet post: Judge bans Trump insults Ex-CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch is said to have exploited and abused men

After another verbal derailment by former US President Donald Trump in his fraud trial in New York, the court has drawn conclusions. Judge Arthur Engoron issued an order on Tuesday for all involved in the trial to refrain from personal attacks on court staff, as US media consistently report.

According to reports, Trump had previously accused an Engoron employee of bias in a post on the Truth Social platform he co-founded. The message was later deleted.

Threat of serious consequences

“Personal attacks on my court staff are unacceptable and inappropriate, and I will not tolerate them under any circumstances,” Engoron said, according to the New York Times. If there was a violation, the judge threatened ‘serious sanctions’.

According to Politico magazine, Engoron said he had already “unofficially” warned Trump on Monday not to make such comments. After the post was published on Truth Social on Tuesday, the judge ordered its immediate removal. The message then quickly disappeared.

Trump has repeatedly launched serious verbal attacks against judge and Attorney General Letitia James during the trial, which could destroy his New York business empire. Before the civil suit began, he called James a “racist” and accused Engoron of trying to influence the election. The judge’s license should be revoked.

The former president wants to be re-elected next year. He is the most promising candidate for the Republican nomination. According to many observers, he is using the trial as election advertising.

Trump with his back against the wall

Trump’s sharp attacks are also seen in the context of the trial, which has left the 77-year-old with his back against the wall following Engoron’s preliminary decision. Last week, the judge upheld prosecutors’ allegations that the ex-president, his sons and associates had manipulated the value of the Trump Organization for years to obtain cheaper loans and insurance contracts.

The proceedings now concern the exact definition of possible punishments and open accusations. Trump is not threatened with prison time or any immediate impact on his bid for the presidency, but a conviction could cause him major business damage. James wants to ensure that Trump has to pay 250 million dollars (about 239 million euros) and is no longer allowed to do business in New York. It’s unclear whether he would also have to give up properties like his famous Trump Tower on 5th Avenue if convicted. (sda/dpa)
