IAEA members call for withdrawal of Russian nuclear power plant – the nightly update without photos You won the alternative Nobel Prize

Member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have demanded that Russia immediately withdraw from the occupied Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj reiterated his country’s call for a NATO perspective. And Ukrainian refugees should continue to benefit from special rules in the EU.

IAEA states call on Russian soldiers to withdraw

Soldiers must withdraw and the facility returned under Ukrainian control, according to a resolution adopted at the IAEA’s annual general conference in Vienna. The resolution also demanded that IAEA observers permanently stationed at the nuclear power plant be given free access to all parts of the plant. So far, the IAEA team has been denied access to several reactor roofs.

Zelenskiy: Ukraine deserves NATO membership

Following NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to Kiev, Zelensky again pushed for his country’s membership in the Western military alliance. “Ukraine deserves to become a NATO member – and it will be,” Zelensky said in his evening video address on Thursday. “We are working to make practical progress on NATO membership.” Stoltenberg had visited Ukraine for the second time since the start of the war.

Refugees from Ukraine should continue to benefit from special rules in the EU

War refugees from Ukraine can stay in the EU without any problems until at least March 2025. The EU Home Affairs Ministers agreed on this in Brussels. The extension of the special rules provides certainty for the more than four million Ukrainian refugees who have found a safe haven in the EU, according to the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council of Interior Ministers.

Poland’s Justice Minister sees Ukraine behind the rocket accident

A missile that hit Poland near the border ten months ago actually came from Ukraine, according to Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro. According to the PAP office in Lublin, an expert report commissioned by the prosecutor’s office showed that it was a Ukrainian missile of Soviet or Russian production. This Friday, Russia will celebrate the first anniversary of the annexation of the Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Donetsk and Luhansk with a major concert on Red Square in Moscow. The Kremlin wants to use the planned concert with the participation of Russian pop stars such as Dima Bilan and Sergei Lazarev (from 4:30 PM CEST) mainly as a domestic political demonstration of power.
