Trump says he wants to buy a gun

Former president Donald Trump is on Monday, he stopped by a gun store in South Carolina as part of his campaign and said he wanted to buy a semi-automatic handgun, although he didn’t end up buying it.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing Trump looking at a gun and saying, “I want to buy one.”
Cheung stated that Trump acquired a Glock semi-automatic pistol, which is used by security forces in more than 50 countries around the world, but reporters who follow the Republican claim that he ultimately did not acquire the weapon.
Trump, who is emerging as the favorite to win the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election, has used controversy throughout his political career, and even resorted to disinformation, as a strategy to attract media attention.
A 58-second video released by his spokesman shows Trump at a gun shop called “Palmetto State Armory” in Summerville, South Carolina.
In the video, the former president is seen admiring a gun that another person is holding next to him, and he can be heard exclaiming “Wow!” as he points to the gun and says: »I have to buy one. “I want to buy one.”
The person with the gun answers and Trump says again, “No, I want to buy one.”
Both as a current candidate in the Republican primary and during his time in the presidency, Trump has sought to portray himself as a defender of the Constitution’s Second Amendment NOW, which guarantees the right of Americans to keep and bear arms.
When he ran for office in 2016, he received the official endorsement of the influential National Rifle Association (NRA), which donates money to the campaigns of presidential candidates and members of Congress to prevent the passage of laws that increase gun control.
In contrast to Trump’s position, the President of the United States, Joe Bidenbelieves the country is going through an “epidemic” of gun violence and just last week created the first federal government office dedicated solely to combating shootings and other forms of gun violence.
According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more Americans died from gunshot wounds in 2021 than in any other year for which statistics are available. Namely, in 2021, 48,830 people died.
