Prigozhin’s successor is no friend of Putin: he is the new head of the Wagner Group in Africa

Dmitri Sytyi (center) had a great career at the Wagner Group.

Dmitri Sytyi (34) studied economics in Paris and speaks fluent English, Spanish and French. Add to that the curls and a lanky figure. The 34-year-old is apparently the exact opposite of former Wagner boss Yevgeni Prigozhin (†62), whose empire in Africa he has now usurped.

The Russian does not have a good relationship with Putin, as ‘Bild’ writes. However, many autocrats in Africa are behind Dmitri Sytyi. He lives in the Central African Republic, where he was able to move into the former presidential residence. His SUV doesn’t need a license plate because everyone in the capital Bangui knows it anyway.

He joined the fake news army

Sytyi acquired hero status in the African country through a bomb. This was sent to him at the end of 2022, which caused him to lose three fingers on his right hand. He then spread the theory that France – the ex-colonial power hated in the country – had sent him the bomb.

This is how things continue with the Wagner Group

The 34-year-old was hired by Wagner in 2015 to work in a so-called troll army. From 2016 onwards, this organization spread false information on the internet with the aim of influencing the elections in the US.

Afterwards the Wagner hierarchy quickly rose sharply. Sytyi first became an interpreter in the Central African Republic and then head of the Wagner mercenaries’ non-military operations in Africa. In this role, he set up dummy companies to export raw materials.

Everything remains as it is

At the same time, Sytyi founded a media empire with the aim of spreading anti-Western propaganda. In doing so, he consolidated the power of the dictators, which earned him sympathy points on the African continent.

When Sytyi was recently asked about Prigozhin’s death, he replied: “I assume that everything will remain as it is and that we will continue our work.” It remains to be seen whether Vladimir Putin (70) will accept the new Wagner boss in Africa. (obf)
