Shocking discovery in Poland: Police found the bodies of three newborns in the basement of a neglected single-family home in Pomerania. A 20-year-old woman and her 54-year-old father have been arrested, the public prosecutor’s office in Gdansk announced on Saturday. The woman is under investigation for incest and double homicide of newborns, and the man is investigated for double incest and triple homicide of newborns. He is also said to have had an incestuous relationship with another daughter. According to Polish media reports, one of the children found was from this relationship.

On Friday evening, police found two dead newborns in the village of Czerniki, southwest of Gdansk. “They were buried in the basement. There was no floor there, just packed clay so they could be dug out. The bodies were in various stages of decomposition,” a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service told the portal of the Polish tabloid “Fakt”. Investigators found the third dead child Saturday morning. On Saturday evening, police were still at the crime scene and looking for possible additional baby bodies, news agency PAP reported.

According to media information, father and daughter had lived together as a couple for years. «She called him Piotr, by his first name. They walked hand in hand. A few months ago he shaved her head so that the other boys wouldn’t come after her,” a woman from the neighboring village told “Fakt”. A video on the news portal shows that the family apparently lives in a neglected and almost dilapidated lived in the house.

The anonymous witness reports that her colleagues suspected that the woman was pregnant some time ago. She was wearing loose clothing and apparently wanted to hide her belly. Three weeks ago she took vacation. When she returned to work after a week, she seemed exhausted but refused questions about having a child.
