When Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin (†62) was still alive, he recruited countless criminals from Russian prisons for the Ukrainian war. In return, the mercenaries were allowed to return home as free men after their service. Russian President Vladimir Putin (70) confirmed that he would sign the pardon decrees in question.
Sergej R.* (34) also benefited from this. But apparently the man has learned nothing from his mistakes. He had only just returned from the war when he ended up behind bars again. For the same crime. Murder!
After R. returned from the front at the end of April, he looked for an apartment in Rostov-on-Don. He found what he was looking for on the internet and arranged a viewing appointment with the 52-year-old owner. Apparently there was an argument between the two because they could not agree on the amount of the rent.
The man then hit the woman and strangled her with a shoelace. Investigators say he also stabbed her in the neck several times. The 52-year-old died at the scene of her injuries. The perpetrator put the woman’s cell phone in his pocket and left the field. Then he was arrested and now convicted.
He was tried on Tuesday. He was sentenced to 11½ years in prison for murder. R. had admitted the crime.
In October 2017 he murdered his girlfriend. During an argument, he threw her to the ground and strangled her with a rope and a belt. As in the most recent case, the future Wagner mercenary had his girlfriend’s cell phone taken away after the crime.
He then tried to pass the act off as suicide. Without success. At the time, he was sentenced to ten years in prison for murder. But after five years – thanks to Prigozhin – he came out again and went to war.
Wagner fighters returning from the war are spreading more and more fear and terror among the civilian population in Russia. Ivan R.* (28) murdered an 85-year-old pensioner in the Kirov region at the end of March. Prigozhin even commented on the case: “It’s very bad that he committed this crime.”
In Karelia, on the Finnish border, Igor S.* (38) stabbed six people to death last month. In Chuvashia, Nikita L.* (23) drunkenly beat his 56-year-old neighbor to death. In May, a 42-year-old ex-Wagner soldier was arrested in Novosibirsk. He is accused of raping two girls. (man)
