Government of Venezuela described this Friday as a “historic” visit by the president Nicolas Maduro to China -the first in five years-, during which they will strengthen “integration ties and strategic alliances in economic, technological and commercial matters”.
Through a press release, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from that Caribbean country reported that it was a “historic visit to the People’s Republic of China”, one of the main allies of the so-called The Bolivarian Revolution, whose goal is to strengthen relations in different areas.
The state portfolio also explained that Maduro plans to hold a “pleasant meeting with the high authorities” of the Asian giant.
The MFA reminded that the relations between the two countries have been established 49 years“experienced constant growth, thanks to mutual respect and seeking mutual benefit”.
Maduro’s official visit to China, which will last until next September 14responds to the invitation of his Chinese colleague, Xi Jinpingaccording to the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that Asian country Hua Chunying.
The last visit of the Venezuelan president to China took place in September 2018, when 28 cooperation agreements were signed in various fields, including oil, finance, infrastructure and technology.
The official delegation from Caracas headed by the Executive Vice President, delcy rodriguezand it is made up of oil ministers, Rafael Tellechea, and Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, among other officials.
The Executive Vice President met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi this Thursday to discuss bilateral issues and promote economic and trade agreements between the two nations.
During the meeting, they agreed to “continue to consolidate diplomatic relations at the highest level between the two sister nations,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.
The relations between Venezuela and China that became closer during the time of the late president Hugo Chavez (1999-2013)they have strengthened in recent years under Maduro’s government in the context of the South American nation’s increasing international isolation.
