“I put him in the shower and started chopping him up by hand,” 29-year-old Daniel B. * said the Thai researchers. Videos of the reconstruction of the crime were broadcast on Spanish television on Monday. The images show how the Spaniard walks with the officials along the sea, where the influencer is said to have thrown away his victim’s body parts in plastic bags.
An argument is said to have preceded the horror act: “I told him I couldn’t do that anymore. I got up, he backed away, and I started talking and gesticulating some more. And I backed away and hit him,” the Spanish newspaper El Mundo quoted the 29-year-old. According to reports, he should have ended the relationship and no longer wanted to have sex with Colombian surgeon Edwin A.* († 44).
Cruel scenes are said to have taken place in the bathroom. The Spanish newspaper further quotes the influencer: “I had leaned him against the toilet, but he grabbed me and bit me. I picked him up and hit him again. Then he was unconscious, covered in blood and I walked out of the bathroom.” Subsequently, B. would have put his now deceased lover under the shower and chopped him into pieces.
To prevent the blood from clotting, he would have set the water to the highest temperature. Apparently, the act did not happen in an emotional state, but was planned. Surveillance cameras would show that the perpetrator goes to a hardware store to buy the necessary tools.
B. denies having had an affair with A. Thai media see it differently: accordingly, the influencer unsuccessfully tried to end the relationship with the surgeon. A. allegedly threatened his lover to publish intimate photos of the two, which could have damaged the reputation of his famous family.
The father of the suspect is the Spanish TV series star Rodolfo S.* (48), his mother the respected actress Silvia B.* (48). He sees himself as a victim. ‘Yes, I’m guilty, but I was Edwin’s hostage. He held me prisoner,” the EFE news agency quoted the 29-year-old as saying.
The investigation by the Thai police is in full swing. However, not all body parts have been found. If convicted, the Spaniard faces the death penalty. But the victim’s family wishes him a different fate: a long prison sentence in Thailand. “The family is very religious, they believe very much in the will of God,” says the family lawyer. “We absolutely do not want him to receive the death penalty.” (gs)
