Iranian police need explanation after sexual harassment

Protesters filmed the incident and shared the footage on social media. A storm of outrage ensued and the Iranian police were ultimately unable to find an explanation. A police officer grabbed a woman’s butt during nationwide protests. As the “Mirror” reports, police initially claimed that the video was faked and manipulated by opponents of the regime.

case is now under investigation

People on social media reacted indignantly, asking how the police of an Islamic state could carry out such an immoral and sexist attack. In the end, the police had to admit the incident. The case is now under investigation, the media said in a press release.

The incident is said to have taken place in the north of the capital Tehran last week. The footage shows the protester being arrested by the police. However, she strongly resists. One of the police officers then grabs her buttocks. (ceded)
