US President Joe Biden reiterated this Tuesday in front of Israeli President Isaac Herzog his support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Biden he reiterated his commitment to maintaining the path towards an agreed two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflictthe best path to a lasting and just peace, and to provide Israelis and Palestinians with the same measure of freedom, prosperity and security,” the White House said in a statement.
In addition, the US president emphasized the need to “take additional steps» improve the economic and security situation in the West Bank, in order to prevent “terrorist acts”.
Regarding Israel’s role in the Middle East, both leaders agreed that it is necessary to integrate the country into the region for greater peace and prosperity. Based on this, they expressed their concerns about Iran due to its increasing military cooperation with Russia and agreed to coordinate to prevent Tehran from obtaining an atomic bomb.
They also emphasized that the relationship between the US and Israel is based on “shared democratic values”, which is why they also addressed the issue of judicial reform promoted by the Prime Minister of that country, Benjamin Netanyahu.
“I am glad to see you again, President Biden, a true friend of mine and of Israel. Time and time again, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to a strong bond between Israel and the US. As strong democracies, our alliance is based on shared values and is above all political controversy,” Herzog said on Twitter.
At the end they talked about development of technological solutions for global challenges such as climate change, pandemics or food insecurity. Herzog also met with the Secretary of the US Ministry Antony Blinken, with whom he discussed “regional challenges”, and they expressed their desire to further strengthen political, economic and security ties.
