Russia attacks the port of Odessa with rockets after the termination of the grain contract

Last morning, Russia attacked the city of Odessa with cruise missiles, damaging port infrastructure and several houses.

“Last night Odessa was attacked by six Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea,” Serguí Bratchuk, the representative of the Military Administration of the region, reported on Tuesday, explaining that all the missiles were shot down by Ukrainian air defense.

According to Bratchuk, the “remains of downed missiles and explosions” from the interception “caused damage to facilities in the port infrastructure and several houses.” A man was injured in one of those houses.

This new attack occurs a few hours after the Kremlin announced that it would not extend the so-called the grain agreement that Russia signed with Turkey and the UN, in which Moscow promised to allow Ukrainian grain to leave three ports on the Black Sea, among them the one from Odessa.

The agreement was signed in July last year to ensure food security throughout the world. Ukraine is one of the largest international grain exporters. The Russian military invasion of the Black Sea threatened its navigability. Nevertheless, Ukraine asked Turkey and the UN to continue guaranteeing the export of Ukrainian grain By the Black Sea without Russia, in case Moscow does not correct.
