A 19-year-old stole a bus in Schleswig-Holstein and took it on a country trip. According to the police, emergency services stopped the man on a national road near Ratzeburg on Sunday. Witnesses had previously alerted the police because the bus was zigzagging.
As the police in Ratzeburg announced, the 19-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license. There was also evidence of drug use. The young man told officials he had discovered the bus the night before in Bargteheide, more than 30 kilometers away, with the door open and found the ignition key inside. That is why he first drove to Hamburg and parked the bus in neighboring Ammersbek on Sunday evening.
On Sunday morning, according to his own statements, he drove the stolen vehicle in the opposite direction almost to Ratzeburg, where the police stopped him. According to officials, there were “significant signs of an accident” on the bus. The 19-year-old is suspected of, among other things, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving under the influence of narcotics. (AFP)
