The beauty of Italy’s Amalfi Coast attracts thousands of tourists every year. But not everyone is satisfied with their holiday on the turquoise water, according to the video of an American Tiktokerin. The video, in which the woman was angry about her stay in southern Italy, had already been viewed more than 400,000 times on Thursday evening.
“Every influencer and tiktoker who brought the Amalfi Coast to my for-you page deserves a jail sentence,” Lexi Jordan aka @milleniallex rages in the clip. They showed the beautiful coast and cute towns in their films, but not the downsides of the sunny holiday paradise, she complains.
“First of all, it’s impossible to get here,” Lexi tells the camera. “These are not vacations, you have to walk here”, is her curious verdict.
«You have to fly to Naples, then you have to take a train from Naples to Sorrento. Then you have to wait for a ferry at 32 degrees, with all your luggage on the ferry – we are here for two weeks – to finally get to the Amalfi coast,” she reports.
Jordan complains that she had to climb 160 stairs with all her luggage to get to her hotel. “There are no roads here! There are no cars!” she complains.
But that’s not all: she reports a power outage “because the Amalfi Coast lacks the infrastructure to support tourism”. With an angry “Oh my God!” the video ends.
The video also circulated on Twitter. The American should especially listen to one thing in the comments: ridicule.
One user jokingly calls for “a European ban on Americans”, one user states that minimal research would have been very helpful. “Then you could have left your nails and your nasal voice on the other side of the Atlantic,” she adds. “I’m so sorry you still have to walk in your old age,” another commenter laughed of the young woman.
What disadvantages Jordan did not mention: the Amalfi Coast is now known for miles of traffic jams. The region could not withstand the attack. Ambulances keep getting stuck. Last summer, jellyfish also spread more and more along the Italian coasts. According to biologists, their distribution is partly due to warming waters and overfishing.
