The commander of the Russian submarine Stanislav Rschitzki was killed while jogging.

Seven shots from a Makarov pierced the body of Russian commander Stanislav Rschitzki († 42) on Monday. But not on the battlefield, but early in the morning when he jogs through a park in the Russian city of Krasnodar. The mayor of the city announced that the murder was under investigation.

According to Russian Telegram channels, the 9mm shells hit the chest and back. The perpetrator then fled. Because it was raining, the tracks were blurry. Particularly curious: the commander shared his running route in an app. Apparently, the killer took the opportunity to take out the commander. On Tuesday afternoon, detectives announced they had arrested a man in the Krasnodar region suspected of involvement in the crime.

Rschitzky was a submarine commander believed to have ordered several missile strikes against the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, according to Ukrainian sources. 28 people were killed, including three children and three Ukrainian air force officers.

According to the Mirtworets website, Rzhitzki is directly involved in the open military invasion of Ukraine and commands the Black Sea Fleet submarine Alrosa. Apparently, he lived in Crimea, in Sevastopol.

Conflicting information – did he leave the army?

According to the Russian Telegram channel Baza, Rschitzki had already asked for his release in 2021, even before the Russian offensive war. “He went into reserve even before this particular operation started,” confirms the dead man’s father.

Meanwhile, it was claimed on social media that 37-year-old Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s spy chief, liked the commander’s running route. This was interpreted as indicating that Ukraine was behind the attack. The Ukrainian secret service denied these allegations.

Is the internal protest against Russia growing?

“Claims by some media and politicians that the Ukrainian secret service has something to do with the death of Stanislav Rzhitzki have no basis whatsoever,” Budanov writes on his Telegram channel. He rather sees the murder as an indication that “internal protest against the war in Ukraine is growing”.

A day later, the next commander dies. Russian Lieutenant General Oleg Tsokov was reported killed on Tuesday in a nighttime rocket attack on occupied Berdyansk in the Zaporizhia region. (jwg)
