Ex-President Medvedev Calls for Missile Attack on Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plants Travel in Italy Restricted: Rail and Air Traffic Strikes Announced

The ex-president is not resting: after an alleged Ukrainian missile attack on a Russian nuclear power plant, Dmitry Medvedev is now loudly demanding revenge. The current vice-president of the Russian Security Council announced via Telegram that three Ukrainian nuclear power plants should be fired simultaneously with missiles in retaliation.

This was preceded by a report from the state-affiliated medium “Mash”, according to which the Russian air force allegedly shot down two Ukrainian missiles. The target of the two alleged British Storm Shadow missiles was the Smolensk nuclear power station.

This is about 200 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border. The debris fell into a wheat field or sawmill and no one was injured. The authenticity of the report could not be independently verified.

Dmitry Medvedev, who was president of Russia from 2008 to 2012 and then prime minister until 2020, has now commented. In his telegram post, the 57-year-old demands that if the message turns out to be true, Russia must bomb three Ukrainian nuclear power plants at the same time. There is “no shame” in that.

Specifically, Medvedev mentions the power plants in southern Ukraine Rivne and Khmelnitskiy. Together with the disputed Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and the decommissioned Chernobyl reactors, these are the only nuclear power plants in Ukraine.

In addition, nuclear power stations in Eastern Europe should also be considered, says the former president. It is not the first time that Medvedev has threatened nuclear strikes. As early as January, he claimed that if Russia lost the war, it could lead to nuclear war.
