The “Legion of Freedom of Russia” announces new attacks.

Exactly how many there are and where they are is a top secret. Their motivations are very different. And if you want to be one of them, you have to pass a lie detector test.

But they exist: Russians are fighting together with Ukraine against Russian troops, united in the “Legion of Freedom of Russia” under Ukrainian command. Again and again they strike in the border area of Belgorod. Since the beginning of the war, the border area has been repeatedly shelled, killing dozens of people. Everything to achieve the legion’s goal: to end the Putin regime and the war.

“We have ambitious plans. We want to liberate our entire territory,” said Maximillian Andronnikov, who calls himself Caesar, in an interview with the British Sunday newspaper Observer. He is the group’s official spokesman. There will be another surprise in the coming month, he announced.

Russia is dying in front of everyone

Andronnikov sees Russian President Vladimir Putin (70) weakened after the halted uprising of the Wagner group led by mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin (62) at the end of June. According to The Observer, he expects Putin’s government to collapse by the end of 2024. There is dissatisfaction in the Russian army because many soldiers who joined the army for financial reasons have not been paid: “There is a huge money problem.”

In an interview with the Nexta media project, he explained that the group was getting bigger and bigger. He does not give details. Only so much: “It’s only a matter of time before we’re strong enough for our last march.”

Andronnikov, a former physiotherapist from St. Petersburg, Russia, describes himself as a “right-wing nationalist” and believes the only way to overthrow Putin’s government is through violence. His compatriots “didn’t want to see or hear anything,” Caesar criticizes. Russia is dying in front of everyone. “Go into the villages – you will see drunks, drug addicts and criminals.” This is the result of 20 years of Putin. (AFP/jmh)
