The traditional toy dealer Franz Carl Weber (FCW) is sold. The buyer is the German drugstore chain Müller. The current branch network of the toy seller will continue to exist for the time being.
FCW becomes the property of the Müller Group. FCW board chairman Marcel Dobler confirmed this on Wednesday at the request of the AWP news agency. It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price. First the “Handelzeitung” reported about the sale.
However, the Franz Carl Weber brand will be retained and no changes are currently planned to the branch network, continues Dobler, who joined FCW in 2018 as a shareholder and owns about half of the shares. “Nothing changes for the customer,” continues the National Councilor and co-founder of Digitec. “The company remains a matter of the heart for me.”
Franz Carl Weber is a lighthouse in Swiss retail. The company was founded in 1881 and today employs nearly 200 people in 23 locations. (sda/awp)
