Ex-Audi boss Stadler appeals against ruling in emissions scandal Revision Car drives 276 km / h and crack: incriminating images of Biden’s son Hunter surfaced

The lawyers of former Audi boss Rupert Stadler and his two co-defendants have surprisingly appealed the decision of the Munich regional court in the emissions scandal. The court announced this on Tuesday.

The Economic Criminal Court had sentenced her to suspended sentences and monetary payments for fraud in the diesel emissions scandal. In the case of Stadler and the engineer P., the defense, the public prosecutor’s office and the court had already agreed on the punishments that would be imposed during the trial.

Stadler’s lawyer Thilo Pfordte expressed his satisfaction after the verdict was announced last Tuesday that his client was spared a prison sentence.

Stadler was sentenced to one year and nine months in prison with probation and payment of 1.1 million euros for negligent fraud. He did not start the manipulations, but stopped selling the cars in Germany much too late. In his case, the prosecutor’s office had already approved the suspended sentence during the trial.

The Public Prosecution Service is also appealing

The prosecutor’s office only appealed against the former head of engine development at Audi, Wolfgang Hatz. She had demanded a prison sentence of three years and two months for the 64-year-old. The Economic Criminal Court sentenced Hatz to two years in prison and a payment of 400,000 euros.

The long-time head of engine development at Audi and later a member of the Porsche board of directors had confessed to manipulating the exhaust gas control in large diesel engines. He and P. took care of the design of the software, with which the nitrogen oxide limit values were complied with on the test bench, but no longer on the road.

The criminal court has until April 9, 2024 to substantiate the decision in writing. After the judgment has been served, the lawyers of the defense and the public prosecutor have the opportunity to justify the appeal, according to court spokesman Laurent Lafleur. The files are then submitted for decision to the Federal Court of Justice. (saw/sda/awp/dpa)
