There will be no criminal case against American rapper Travis Scott (32) after an accident that killed ten people at a festival. The public prosecutor in the district of Harris County in the US state of Texas announced this on Thursday (local time). District Attorney Kim Ogg said a grand jury found there was insufficient evidence to commit a crime.
During a performance by the rapper in November 2021 at the Astroworld Festival, panic erupted in the crowd in front of the stage. Ten people died and hundreds were injured. About 50,000 people attended the festival organized by Scott. The musician and the other organizers were accused, among other things, of not taking enough security measures and that the concert was canceled too late. Scott had dismissed allegations of negligence.
During the concert, Scott said he was unaware that people in the crowd in front of the stage were in danger. He was not warned during his performance. He would have stopped the show had he known concertgoers were in distress. (aeg/sda/dpa)
